He is home!

(This post is actually from mid april just forgot to post) My husband that is! The re-adjustment has gone well, which is a big relief. It is a lot harder than people imagine to re-adjust after 6 months with a combat deployment. But I think that after having done this so many times we have developed more patience and a bigger understanding for eachother.
Eli and James are overjoyed and it has helped Eli's speach a lot. He follows his daddy around everywhere and want to do everything just like him. :)
I have been able to squeeze in some sewing as well. Tried my hand at some 4" baskets.. well... I need to re-do 2 of them. But I will learn from my mistakes and re-do them...
I am also working on a baby quilt! It has been so much fun that I am thinking about making another one.

Exciting news!

I have been taking a breather! And it has been nice to just focus on family and fun! We got some fun news a week ago! We are moving to North Carolina in dec or jan. I am excited for many reasons. One I can actually apply to nursing school there, two it is more of a country setting which I think is better for the kids. And three houses are waaayyy cheaper there. To most moving is scary and uncomfortable, and probably about a week before we move I will freak out lol. And ofcourse I will miss all the friends that I have made! You guys rock! :). But I have learned that change can be good and home is where you make it!. After all I moved halfway across the globe 9 years ago ( oh my time flies!)  This past sunday I spent painting :). We were helping out for weekend of service. What is weekend of service you ask? Well it is a weekend that our church spends helping out in our community! I love the opportunity to help out.
Yepp! we painted this. ( For a while I thought I wanted to be a painter. Well... After having painted my livingroom when I was in my early twenties I decided against it!)
red binding for my heart quilt! I love it!
The monster!! As I like to referr to it.. The biggest quilt that I have made so far. Need some borders and then it is off to the quilters.

Easter has been a whirlwind! I drove to Vegas wednesday after class. About an hour into our trip I hear a thudding sound. Not good!
So I get off the freeway and make it to the march airforce museum parking lot. It takes about me getting out and looking at the tire to realize I have a flat. Although I could probably fix it seeing how I have had more flats than most people ( I know there is such a thing as rotating tires and not driving over curbs) . But I decide it is better to call AAA, now here is the thing I don't have a smart phone. Well good thing I have friends that were around before the massive invasion of these devices that have common sense. Well after calling my friend she kindly suggests 411.
This little adventure cost me 3 hours and about 300$ but after that I was on the road again. Vegas was a blast and we spent a day poolside with my inlaws.
On the way back the freeway stopped so I rolled down the windows as we watched the police helicopter circle above us. The guy in the car next to me started talking and I found out he had lost three months wages in Vegas. He said we were unlucky to be sitting in a traffic jam especially since I was going all the way to Oceanside ( he was representing LBC). It was then that it hit me. We weren't the unlucky ones. We were sitting in our cars on our way home. The sirens from the ambulance was for someone up there. Someone that was truly unlucky.
Also I realized that ten years ago I would have broken down and cried about the flat tire.. But this mama grew up and learned to deal with most things.

Time flies!

Is it just me or does time go by faster the older you get? As a child it always seemed like forever until my birthday or Christmas. Nowadays it seems as though I can barely keep up!
Either way I have been keeping busy. Mostly quilting ;). But also doing some fun stuff with the kids and ofcourse kept busy asking my math teacher a million questions ( God bless his heart he has so much patience)
Me and the kids went to queen Kalifas magical cirlcle. It is a beutiful sculpture garden in Escondido. But given the weather in Escondido I only go in winter or early spring ( I am still Swedish after all and I don't like it over 90 degrees F. and 100 makes me think I am dying!)
While in Kit Carson park I found a park bench in memory of a woman. Well that is all nice and dandy but her name was written right where one would put ones bum. Now,, hmm I don't know if I would want a park bench in my memory so people could rest their bum on me lol. But to each is own. Ofcourse I didn't know this person ;).

I love these mosaics in Queen Kalifas magical circle!
A pincushion that I made. something pink and happy!
My past time while watching the kids run around the house having a race ( adding the binding)

Remember those Christmas quilts I made? well there were some left over halfsquare triangles. So I made a tabletopper. The blocks are tiny at 3".( kinnda makes me a little bit dizzy)

the big uh oh!

Tonight it happened! James blankie that he got as a baby melted. ( you ask yourself how?) well,, James thought that his room was too bright so he covered up the nightlight with his blankie, which in turn melted.
James was devastated once he realized that it might not be fixable. So I had to try. Well I cut out the melted plastic part. and then I sewed on some minky fabric that I had ( I use it for backings for my kids quilts!)
So now I have a happy big boy again! Hopefully blankie will be around for many years to come.
Others than blankie disasters not much have been going on.
Yesterday I thought I lost my bag ( come to find out it was hidden under some fabrics..hmmm should I join fabricaholics anonomys? lol) well I almost couldn't pick my kids up at daycare because I didn't have my military ID which I needed for paying. Well they are just the sweetest people and let me pay on friday. Also I called the lost and found of the police department before I found my bag.. Yeah I am pretty embarassed now,, But oh well happy that I know where my bag is. And Oceanside PD are very nice!
Spring is here! This is my peach tree isn't it pretty!
And here is my latest project.. tiny little pumpkins.. They still need binding ( the outside edge)

It is almost march and let me tell you, I am sooo ready for this month to be over. Although short in days, the latter part ( ie this week) has been trying for me.
Seems as though things multiply in my house, and monday was stressful to say the least. I had a math test and could not find my calculator. Then to top it all off James threw up in the car. I was worried he had gotten sick and tried to call my mil to ask if she could take him. But there was no answer, James claimed that he was ok and I ended up dropping him off in childcare. Then I went to get a calculator,, I got a bright yellow one lol ( the only one that they had left) The math test went well and James didn't throw up in daycare. So I suppose the day ended well.. Just exhausting.
Also Eli has started throwing things in the trash :( .. well it is good as long as it is trash.. But I now fear that he has thrown a giftcard and some fabric.. Well good thing he is cute as a button!
So bring on March! Only 2 months or so before my husband gets home. Needless to say I have started planning my homecoming outfit. Well here is the thing.. I have made some MAJOR fashion faux paus! ( or however that spells, french never was my best subject) When my husband came home from Iraq I decided that wearing ALL white was a great idea.. yes I was wearing white from head to toe.. white pants.. oh my! to top it all off I got badly burnt. So I was all red. Well last time I decided to wear something more neutral.. well it didnt look good either! I don't even want to see the picture. It just wasn't flattering. So this time I am planning on wearing a kneelong jean skirt. But who knows at the very last minute I might change my mind and decide to wear skinny jeans and a bright pink moto shirt with unit logo! ( please someone stop me if I suggest it!)
So here is what I have been up to!

James blanket is almost finished :) putting on the trim ( ie the binding)
Working on a Christmas wreath, gots to finish that bow
James and Eli getting balloon animals! too cute.. although they lasted for about an hour..
